I got on the american river after work about 6:15 off by 8:45 I fished between Goethe park and Harrington ave.  Landed two under size striper 17 1/4" & a 16 1/2"  so they are in there and starting to come up.I got a couple of other really hard nice hits :smt086 but no love on those.I was hoping for one I could bring home and BBQ but theres always tomorrow. I have some pictures on my phone but I just need to figure out how to down load them since I dont' have internet/email on my phone.

Post a date/time and I'll join you.

I'm might be launching at Howe tomorrow morning. It may be early, but the salmon are tempting me.

How exactly are you fishing for the stripers?
Bait? Lures? Anchored? Drifting?
What did ya get the two shorties on?

I got all four of these drifting anchovies. A couple of methods I usually use for the American are (baits) anchovies, soft shell crawdads, sardines. Or I fish top water, with flatfish, popper, crankbaits  this is usually right at dusk when all the bugs start coming out and usually in a back flow or right before or after a rapid. But usually when I'm fishing for striper I tend to stick to bait fishing the deep holes. I dive the river all the time during the summer and I see which holes the stripers like to hang in. Hope this helped.

Launched at Howe 7:30am, off the water at 11:00am.
Met the "Jon Boat" guys at the ramp while unloading. They had some good stiper stories. All were fly fishing.

I launched and went upriver to the outlet pipe. Drifted back down throwing the usual stuff. Anchored over a few holes and soaked sardines... No love.

Drifted down to the pump, worked the bank, then anchored and soaked another sardine. Nothing.
Two pb's at the pump. No action for them either. I did watch numerous schools of fish pass under the FF. All heading up river.

Looks like the pm fishing works better than the morning.

A funny story... As I drifted down from Watt, I noticed something else floating down river. Couldn't really see what it was. Not a boat, or a kayak, or a raft..hmmm. Got closer..should I paddle over to it? NO.
Got even closer...it's an inflatable mattress and something is on it. I hope it's not a body....gets closer..yep, it's a body. On it's belly, arms floating, face down in the water. CRAP! I don't won't a floater.
I let it get closer..but not too close..and the head lifts up out of the water and looks at me! Crap again! The dude had a dive mask on...what a shock that was. The guy was having a nice morning float. He passed by me again down by the pump.

Al

The mattress. The owner is to the left, under the water.
