Dang that's so sad.  Nice shop and boathouse. 

Sales of sporting goods has been generally pretty robust during pandemic, especially online.  I'm guessing rental business made up a substantial portion of revenue and was shutdown due 2 COVID, and they weren't able to affect online sales for these bulky boats and gear.

Sad to hear the news as Dan's passion for kayaking and growing the sport was evident in how well he treated his customers.  His shop will be missed but at least he will still be connected to the kayaking community 

I watched the video.  Sales where great but the issue was with the supply chain and the stress and headaches of trying to run a retail brick and mortar business when product is in short supply or nonexistent on top of not being able to open the doors for customers.  Similar to what we are seeing in the forum that the backorders are extensive for kayaks.  Hopefully another shop can open in the area that has someone  running it with the same customer first outlook.

well, that sucks.  i was gonna do my kayak upgrade there.

The kayak shop is closing.

The boat house on Lodi Lake will remain open. Abba who currently runs it will be teaming up with Dan and be a co-owner.

The Headwaters name will still remain under Dan. He will continue to do Youtube videos and will be a distributor for kayaks.

Having worked for Headwaters in the past, I am sad to hear this, but also happy for Dan. He will get to do more of what he loves and less sitting behind a desk.

The Headwaters Brand is not closing, just moving in a different direction.
