Hello fellow kayakers,

I need to buy about 4-5 kayaks, and I am not concerned with cosmetic condition (just need to be seaworthy). So shiny brand new kayaks costing $1300 a piece are not what I want; I am looking for old, beat-up, and inexpensive kayaks.

Are there places to buy these?  Do rental shops periodically get rid of their used stock? Thank you.

Kayak rental places usually have some amount of used stock for sale, but the current kayak-craze has cleared most of them completely out. I would say check back in a month or two and hope for the best, or keep a close eye on Craigslist. Good luck!

Thanks; I will try those options.

If you're around HMB, the guys at HMB Kayak Co usually sell used kayaks from time to time...most likely going to be a Cobra or Ocean Kayak.

Yup, talk to Doug at HMB kayak. Picked up a tandem from him not to long ago. Not the best of color but functional for the family. They have a bunch of new kayaks in and off loading the old ones.
