Thought about picking up a SeaDoo and outfitting it for fishing. Wanted your thoughts on this in terms of safety and just in general. Thanks.

Sounds like a good idea.  Would love to see photos of the setup.

Safety depends on where you plan to take it, but most of the same rules apply.

John Skinner did a demo on a SeaDoo fishing jetski.

It seemed interesting, but also slightly awkward.  I suppose it's handy to blast around at 50 knots.

It's very popular in Texas.  I recalled Kiel used to fish from Jetski and has great setup on his.

I've done it in overseas but never in the states (All warm water placed). I wouldn't want to do it in the cold norcal water without a decent wetsuit. Having to flip one of those over is a ton of effort compared to a yak.

The wind and wave get crazy enough on the yak but with the short length of the jetski... you would handle like a duck floating but get jarred around the entire time.

Check out a solo skiff they're popular in so cal and I saw a guy one @ MRY this week. It actually works out pretty well as a hybrid concept.

Yeah I saw two dudes out at Bolinas on Thursday. Looked pretty cool. One guy was cooking back when the water went shit. It probably was a lil squirrelly, but he made it back fine. I would definitely want to check one out. I think it was Ariel Sea and a buddy

I've seen a quite a few fish from a jetski around these parts. Seen a guy go out towards Seal Rocks from SF bay and a few trolling in Bolinas. Trolling seems to be a non-issue too.

There are not many places in the Monterey Bay where you can use one...

The YBS Youngbloods YouTube channel has a lot of fishing/spearing from a jetski. However, they do it in Oz so different conditions.

I saw one out near Pedro Point trolling for salmon this season. They didn’t seem to have any problems and weren’t trolling too fast. Only question I had is.... where did they launch. Seems like a long trek from HMB.
