Interesting read on how constant media consumption can skew our perspective

https://www.nationalgeographic.com/science/2020/09/why-2020-feels-like-the-worst-year-ever/?cmpid=org=ngp::mc=crm-email::src=ngp::cmp=editorial::add=SpecialEdition_20200904&rid=335D61141AA5DDD30929A6B3B8D8C455

"Why doomscrolling and social media go hand in hand-

Shocking almost no one, excessive news consumption causes stress. According to a 2017 survey by the American Psychological Association, respondents who kept up with the news cycle reported lost sleep, stress, anxiety, fatigue, and other negative mental health symptoms. The same survey found as many as 20 percent of Americans constantly monitor their social media feeds for updates, and one in 10 check the news every hour."

I try to read Fox, Drudge, CNN, BBC, and PBS in order to try to digest ascertain what is really happening from the biased news services.  I'm pretty much ready to say "screw it'  and just go fishing.  There is so much biased and manipulated half truths and un truths out there that it has become worthless to read any of it.
"Pedo Viejo" is what Antonio called me.

Hahaha, no. Well, maybe - at times.

Yawn? Yeah, I know, but not everyone analyzes it all like you do, buddy!

No offense intended, John. The news cycles currently CONSTANTLY covers primarily the pandemic and the current political climate and few of anything else. So I choose to listen to listen to music, watch movies, or continually trim that darn lime tree that I made the mistake of letting it grow out of control. Maybe I should do a better job of reorganizing/clearing out the garage. Air temps will be HOT for the next three or four days; so maybe I will settle for taking lots of naps.  :smt005 :smt006

No offense taken at all, Howard. I was agreeing with you and acknowledging that you probably already were aware and self-limiting the “doom-scrolling”.

I posted it as I know filks who are constantly checking and reacting to the streams. I figured If there were some that did that in my small local circle, there were prolly others here, too.

Maybe if made aware, they (we) could limit the intake and benefit.
