Here's a little video clip of the conditions last year... this was one of the more calm areas up near Cuffy's cove.  It was a lot more dicey outside and over the top of some of the pinnacles.  The beach landing wasn't bad on the north side of the beach, but it was a washing machine on the entrance to the beach because of rebound from the rocks.

Now thats what I wanna hear! Lets just all envision glassy seas and ankleslapper swells.

norcal swell report has only 4-6NW and 2-4SW swell predicted. Wind though- 26kt predicted wind spike for friday & saturday ONLY. Whats up with that?

JTF-

Let me guess... you're going to be the last one out and the first one in so you can capture all the carnage on film...

I didn't realize I posted this in General fishing tips so I am putting it here

#1  I just wanted to let everyone know I have 2 spots at Albion river campground 10 miles N from Elk. I have them on Thursday AND Sunday. I have me and the 2 Kidlettes + 1-2 other yakers. So, I have 1 extra campsite both days. Anyone need a spot? if not I will cancel $25 a night + $5 per person over 2 per.

#2 I am thinking of trying to get 2 Scotty extensions ( 6.5 inches?)for my rod holders. Does anyone use them and are they good? Does anyone know where they are in stock-none in Chico? Too late to order. If someone can pick up 2 and bring to Elk I would make it worth there while. Someone please let me know if they are worth using. Thanks everyone, Randall

Randall, I use them when trolling with multiple rods (freshwater) and they work fine.  They are very strong considering they are a hunk of plastic.  It is all a matter of preference in how high you want your rod holder off the deck.  I put both rodholders on the right side of my kayak with one facing right, and one facing left.  I use the extention to make the front one higher than the rear one for easy access.

Outdoor Pro Shop in Rohnert Park seems to always have these in stock.  I don't know for sure if they have them at this moment, but they tend to be well stocked in scotty rodholder products.  Call and see, and swing by on your way through town.

Yeah, save the sweat for Heart Attack Hill!! :smt005

If conditions are anything like last year, with the near 8-10 foot swell, prepare for a lot of chumming.  Load up on your motion meds the night before and take some morning of.  I didn't hurl, but many did, some of whom can normally can keep down the hatch. :drool

We will be getting to Albion Thurs 1-2pm to late to fish unless it's Glass. So I was thinking launch practice and self rescue. Living so far from the ocean I have no experience with surf launch so I'd like to practice as much as possible Thurs afternoon and fri. We were going to go to chico last night and practice self rescues in the 1 mile Pond but the Park rangers put the Kabash on that. The more the merrier. Randall

I have two that you may borrow for Elk to see whether you like them before you buy. I have both the nylon/plastic one and the metal one (they affix differently to the rod holder). I'll be at Hendy Woods around 12:00 noon on Friday and can probably meet you somewhere so you can try them on Saturday. PM me.
