As we are heading back from Pedro, decided to drop a line for rockfish right in front of rockaway cove around noon.  We heard a big splash behind us, didn't know what that was, we stayed and kept pulling up fish.  Minutes later, I hook up a 23" cabi which did not want to give up.  It first dangled up w/ the net and then jumped off w/ stringer in its mouth.  As I am pulling it back to kayak, I saw a big long shadow passing under.  It then surfaced right in front of me.  HOLY S*&T!!  It is GWS!!!  It got to be 15' long.  I screamed on my radio "It is GWS! Get your stringer out of water".  Without hesitation, we wrapped up and headed back to the beach.  It happen so quickly, I wasn't able to take a selfie w/ landlord lol.  However, a friend forward me the picture to prove it.  What a eventful day.

About time the landlord paid their yearly visit to Rockaway...last year, 3-4 GWS showed up in front of the cove.

I’ve shirt pants at the site of a shark fin off the point before and wonder about Bolinas with the size of salmon in Bolinas. Is the kelp bed with sea lions at the point a juvenile hit spot?

Bolinas is also notoriously sharky. Any spot near a rivermouth around here - bait > salmon > angry locals lol. Down south there's also Tunitas Creek, nicknamed Donteatus.
