I need to buy a good yak rack. I bought a T-rack lumber rack and am wondering what type of kayak cradles/beds people like. I can’t go with the “J” type as it truck’s lumber rack is already high.
What’s you opinion?

Jim

if you've got a lubber rack and a SOT, just tie it down upside-down with cam-straps.  don't use the ratchet straps cause people over crank them and ruin boats that way...

Thats how I use mu yackima bars when carrying just one boat.  when carrying more than one I use Yakima Hullraisers.

I'd say just throw some padding onto the T rack & tie the boats on upside down. I think that's how Mooch rolls. I've been using a Yakima system (cradles and rollers) on my pickup and just some thick surfboard pads on my bronco's basket rack.
+1 on not using  the motorcycle ratchet straps unless you are absolutely sure you won't deform the boat doing so. Some guys even prefer the old school rope method with a trucker's hitch over cam straps for this reason. How long the boat sits in the sun on your roof is pretty critical sometimes.
