I'm heading out to the 110 degree weather of the delta to camp at Willow Campground. I really don't want to, but we committed to a camping trip a few weeks ago.

I'm not taking the yak but might throw a line from shore.

Is it worth giving minnows or bullheads a shot there?

Are there any open baitshops in the Brannan Island area?

Any tips? Should I target stripers or bass/catfish?

TIA!

The only bait shop I frequent when I’m in the area is Rio Vista bait and tackle by highway 12. They do sell live bait as well. I always used Jumbo blood worm when I target striped bass there and have caught catfish on it as well. Rigged with a sliding pyramid sinker.

There’s also a burger shack within walking distance of that baitshop called Burgerlicious. It’s pretty good.

It’s gonna be “HOT”!!!🥵
Salmon is running right now, so throw some spinners!? Check out the fishaholic’s posts...
There’re always some stripers (lots of diapers) around there too.
If you just wanna catch something, small cut baits or pile worms probably produce better for little cats, bass, redear & pike minnows.

There is also Hap's bait shop about a block away from the Rio Vista public launch.  Some red worms under a bobber should do the trick for some bluegills or catfish.

Dang...It's going to be hot!
Stop by Foster's Bighorn for a drink. Some folks kiss the moose after a few.

Have fun and stay safe!
Al

Yeah, not looking forward to the heat. Luckily we're only going to be there for this evening and tomorrow morning.

I was planning on leaving earlier today but I have a wife with friggin' ADHD that's straightening up shit around the house instead of packing.

If you haven't been to Foster's Big Horn, like Al said, YOU have to go.
It is definitely right up your alley.
