It’s been 15 years since I played on the water; focused on work and family.

I am looking at fishing around on the bay; still exploring options to be on the water between classic kayak, sailing or paddle boarding.

Still looking at PROs and CONs, learning from experience from this group.

Welcome.

You can kayak and sail on a Hobie, especially on an Adventure Island (AI) or Tandem Island (TI).

Welcome.

Here’s my opinion as I have been fishing from both kayak and paddle board for the last year or so:

I prefer to fish from a inflatable paddle board when the water is calm. It is rather fast and an efficient way of self propulsion when in calm water because you can engage your whole body. It is also nice to be able to stand up and move around.  The downside is that mines does not do well in the choppy water because mines was not designed to cut through chop making it very difficult for me gain any progress when paddling against wind, current, and chop.

My Kayak gives me more opportunities to be on the water more often in varying weather conditions. However I am not as comfortable in a kayak after  4+ hours compared to the paddle board because I cannot stand comfortably on my kayak. A good seat could alleviate the comfort problem though.

Because the weather where I live in Alameda gets rather windy most days I am relying on my kayak to get me on the water more often. But I am always looking for places and conditions to take my paddle board out...

I find that splaying out and extending the body parts when conditions allow, is good for the comfort and relieving the body.  And as fortune would have it, as i've been splayed out relaxing/half nodding sometimes.. the fish then hit

My seat is the stock seat that comes with the kayak and allows for sliding into a semi lounge position.
