Radio Courtesy (CH 69)

I don't want to be rude. I will tell you I talked on the radio a lot too, but mostly fishing related or sometimes I throw a joke. Yesterday some folks move to a different channel. 67 and 68. Because there are some folk talks a lot and in different languages. I don't want to be disrespectful but please if you have a side conversation that you don't want anyone pick up, please move to a different channel. CH 69 needs to be available and use just in case some emergencies are needed and we need PB assistance. Apology if you find this offensive. Thanks

But I was hoping that between sentences yesterday i would hear”fish on” in English. 🎣

Whether they were NCKA or not that is not NCKA's personal channel. 68, 69 and 71 are really the only channels anyone is supposed to be on for this type of communication. It sucks sometimes people are very "chatty", but really nothing that can be done about it. I would suggest that if you are annoyed at all the chatter then have your group move to one of the other two. One more thing, 69 is not an emergency channel. 16 is the emergency channel. If it gets that bad for needed help, call the coast guard on 16. Otherwise just hail for help on one of the public channels, 68, 69, 71, and make sure all your friends are on the same channel that day.

As much as I was annoyed with the foreign language cluttering up the radio, we have no place.

Sorry Darius, but Rob has it correct.  I do think on a "courtesy" level, radio chat should be kept to a minimum. Think abut what you need to say before you push the talk button.  Also, remember to press the button and wait one or two seconds before speaking.  Transmissions are oftencut short at the start, neccesitating a repeat. I'm guilty too of extending chats a bit while on 69, but typically on days when there is no one ese talking or using that channel in my area.

Mandarin probably .. my wife speaks Cantonese(Yu) not too many sh`s sounds at least to my ear ..but hey I`m Gwai-lou what do i know

Around my house, I'm known as "yang guizi". My wife insists it's a complement, but I'm starting to have my doubts...
