Hi All,

I'm hoping to find friends and get info on norcal saltwater fishing.

I am a semi-experienced fisher on the east coast, i fish for striped bass, bluefish, fluke (aka summer flounder), etc.

We just moved to Davis CA. This weekend I am going out on my first trip: taking family trip to Monterey, will take the kayak store's guided group trip for rockish. super excited!

I have a hobie outback 2019.

what else. safety, respect for the waterway and the fishery, and friendliness and openness to all.

Hope to see you out there!

Lucas

Welcome!

The fishing experience is different compared to the Northeast (i.e. salmon = pain and suffering with great reward, rockfish = just go to the right location, white sea bass = who knows, habilut/striper = seasonal and the right spots).

As usual, tides & moon phase matters. Waves and winds are to be studied diligently.  But cold weather launch is minimal compared to the Northeast.

Welcome from another former NJ guy. (NJ, it's a great place to be from  :smt002)
Another big difference from the east coast is that our crabs are huge compared to blue claws so go out and get some when the season opens in the fall.

Thanks! I definitely plan on it. Let me know if you're ever looking for someone to go with. I have a couple box-type setups but have to check if they have big enough escape-hatches.

WElcome to the Madness!!!  I lived in NJ for 10 years or so.  Didn't fish at all yet. Surfed LBI, Sea Girt, Manasquan, Belmar area.  Man I wasted a lot of time I had no idea how much fun I was missing by not fishing!  Welcome to the CLUB!

I hereby (respectfully) re-name you "JERKSKI"    Proud garden stater!

You can change it on your profile if you want believe me this is a compliment!!

Wow, thanks for the link, Tez... I would never have known.

Bushy, I will leave the name up for a week or so, out of respect for your NJ heritage, but then it'll have to go. I have a reputation to keep after all!

I don't know him personally, but there's a guy named Danny Viscardo on the NJ kayak fishing page that posts a lot.

Cheers,

LK

Yeah that's our boy.  He's done a few trips like Mexico and Alaska with a couple of us!  Redorange is a great name!
