I think so - not trying to be a dick, just giving you my point of view.

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a lefty, G2 MXL MC for $265, which is the new design, more line capacity and the magnetic "magic cast". I debated on the comparable MXJ (G2, MC) because I kinda like the idea of the narrower frame, but the price difference wasn't compelling at $256. I would gladly take a lightly used lefty model of either if the price was right.

for vertical jigging, the magnetic cast feature is unnecessary IMO
the smooth drag and manufacturer support are far more crucial!
