Hi all!

Long time angler just starting to dabble in the world of kayaking. I grew up fishing freshwater but the last 5 years or so I've been mostly fishing salt. I've kayaked, and fished from kayaks, in freshwater a number of times but only on the coast a couple of times. I've been using a friends OK Frenzy and after our last trip I decided to take the plunge and got a good deal on an OK Malibu 9.5. Seemed like a good first kayak since I'm used to the Frenzy and fits my storage and transportation requirements.

I'm itching to get her in the water but mine and my 1 kayak friends schedules don't match up for a few weeks still. I (think) I have all the right gear, but still don't have a wetsuit, and VHF is on its way. That combined with limited experience will keep me from going out on my own. Would anyone be interested in hitting up Capitola kelp beds with a newb tomorrow morning 7/18? I'm based out of Santa Clara.

Tight Lines!

Welcome to NCKA tcT4R.   :smt006. I would recommend you visit the "Safety first" forum if you haven't already.  Can understand you wanting to get out right away, but make sure you have all your safety gear first would be the standard advice from just about everyone on this site.  Just my .02

Thanks BsHawk, fair point. Safety is and always should be the first priority. I'll try to reel it in a bit

Welcome to ncka, tcT4R.
I'll PM you along with bigmack when we go. Love fishing kelp beds as well.
What days are you usually free?
Going Fishing?

Wind from the east, bite the least.
Wind from the north, further off.
Wind from the west, bite the

Thanks superd270. Right now I'm only free on weekends but can plan for week days with advanced notice.

Cheers!
