Guys I plan on going out tomorrow am and noticed a small crack in a spot that was patched once. How dangerous is it to go out I can put some duct tape for the day if needed.

I would be very worry about water getting in.  If you accumulate enough, it may make the kayak tip (slightly or otherwise).  Your kayak doesnt have to sink to make you drink.

If it is below the waterline it is bad news and you should be ready to swim.

True, been there...it is a wobbly reality and never want to experience it again...I had about 15 gallons in my kayak before I checked but was she acting strange...I should warn first then offer "kayak or bust" safety rules... :smt006

That was exactly what happened with the guy I towed back to Muir after his yak went to the bottom. Plastic repair job that didnt keep the water out, yak rolled pointed its nose to the sky and slid to the bottom

If you're going outon the local pond, then yeah.  If you are talking about the ocean or bay then NO.

Why not fix it proper?  A drill a heat gun and some hdpe and you’re in business.

Harbor freight also sells a plastic welder. Also look up G-Flex epoxy. Looks to be pretty good stuff.

I've used G/Flex (that's the way they write it, for some unknown reason) a few times. It's great, but if you don't prep the surface properly, like any epoxy on plastic, it'll peel off. I'd sand the surface, then wipe it down with alcohol, and flame treat with a blow torch. The flame treating just consists of a few quick passes over the surface. The superheated air is the key, as you don't want to actually burn or melt the surface. There's a pretty good description here:

https://epoxycraft.com/top-tips-best-ways-to-use-epoxy/we-asked-hamishhow-do-you-flame-treat-plastic/

Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

Well Gang I went out. I stayed just outside the pier for the first hour to see if she was taking water and if so how bad. I figured Id rather play it safe than get out to the mile buy and start calling for help. After checking and seeing very little water I ventured out to the kelp beds and ended ump just short of the mile boy before The Yak did great it did seem to take small amount of water Id estimate less than a gallon from the 3 hour paddle. Only caught some king fish no butts but it was a great morning to paddle. Now to get this yak patched up proper. Thanks for all the responses guys.
