I have been transporting my boat upside down on pads on my lumber rack, but am about to install some gear tracks that may make that less desirable. Anyone have a good alternative for transporting an Oasis?

This is what I have been doing.

Aloha,

Isao

I transport my kayak rightside up using a couple of 3" pvc pipes lengthwise.  Several manufactures also make  mounts that allow you to slide your kayak up from the back end of your vehicle.

I used to use YAKIMA - Showboat 66 and recently upgraded to Thule Hullavator Pro to carry Oasis on our Subaru Outbacks.

Aloha HapalK. I have a Tacoma with a bed cover so I use the 3 inch PVC method that BSHawk uses. Very easy to load and transport. I don't know if you can squeeze two kayaks in the bed though 🤔. Well good luck  :smt006

Hitchhiking on HapalK's question,  I  have a 2018 Toyota Tacoma extend cab. I have a bed cover so I can't use pipe racks.  I want to take my Hobie compass 12 when I have my RV hooked up.  Does anyone know of roof racks that will work?
                                                     Thanks 😁

Isao,
If you can lift the bow of the Oasis onto the rear crossbar of your rack, that's the biggest step.
Or get some sort of load assist mechanism like the Rhino Rack T-Loader.

I'm a big fan of my t-loader combined with my homemade pvc/carpet cradles. The cradles rock back and forth on the crossbars which makes loading the boat and sliding it on/off the car pretty easy.
As long as you can get the bow of the Oasis onto the rear cradle, you're good to go.

Here is my system for a van. Promaster City. I built the rack attachment to the van roof with  cut and drilled 2x2 and put threaded inserts in them. The wood is bolted to factory set inserts on the roof. More 2x2 for the cross runners with cradles and floor matting glues together so the runners don't sag. Long eye bolts to tie into for hold downs. 5/16ths bolts are put in place with a drill set to medium torque. Takes two minutes to set up the whole shebang. A piece of plastic pipe functions as a "roller". The yak front is lifted onto pipe while the stern drags. Hence the keel guard. I then grab the stern rope, lift and slide, then tie yak down. Worked well for three years now. Long yaks are solo manageable if the lifting angles allow for the right leverage.
