So Friday it was blowing but I got out of work a little early so I decided to hit the local pond for some bass fishing.

I got to the lake around 1600 and was greeted by a busy launch ramp and white caps blowing across the lake. The scene at the ramp was pretty entertaining. Drunk pleasure boaters trying to load up with their boats being blown like crazy. Then yelling at each other for their boats bumping into each other.

I waited a bit for the ramp to clear and the wind to die. The wind never died  :smt009

I cruised around a bit trying to figure out what the fish were doing. I found them offshore in open water around bait. Typical summer pattern, just a bit shallower.

I had a steady pick of smaller grade bass (14-16 inch) for the few hours I was there. They were very aggressive, when I would hook one and bring it to the kayak and multiple others would follow! Super entertaining to watch them aggressively school.

At any rate the bass are starting to pull off a little bit but are still super aggressive!

Nobody wants to see pictures of smallish bass, but here’s a screenshot of what a bass school looks like. When you find them you will be sure that they are there. Happy hunting.

Right you are, John, nothing more entertaining than the Lake Sonoma launch ramp in the afternoon when the weather is warm.  #boatlauchfails   :smt005

Summer time 4 is my cutt off on the lake because of the wind. Before I had a hobbie I lost a rod trying to paddle in on a windy afternoon
