Halibut.... have very small brains.

They are a little bigger than a peanut....lol and behind the top eye at the juncture of two creases.
Here is where to aim for to spike or bonk them.

Yep, like Shimmy says...brain is right where the two ridges meet...one ridge comes off top eye, and other comes off the inside of the crease on the gill plate (not the actual end of the gill plate where you would grab).

Bonk or stab right there and fish will go down pretty quick...cutting the white membrane where gill rakers join body will get em quiet quick as well, and vastly improve meat also.

Here's a pic I think shows the ridges and brain location pretty well...maybe I should've been an arteest?

Took the time to find some older footage of the process and published it for anyone interested...

Screenshot shows where to stab/bonk, and in vid can see (after bleeding) when knife hits brain how fish tenses and jerks for a bit then goes limp.

Put it in slomo and added a pretty tune as well.

This explains why I stabbed my first yak butt between the eyes and it was still flopping around for an hour. fml.

This is really great. Usually, I have so much adrenaline that my strike pattern with my bonker looks kinda like this

They’re tough as shit. Like they’re the rats of the ocean. So tasty, though.

I found this Ncka post from ‘14 that maybe useful for people.
