NCKA HERO (ine)

Everyone has probably heard about the tragic shooting death of our Santa Cruz County Sheriff supervisor last weekend.  I have dealt with Sgt. Damon Gutzwiller, and he really was one of the BEST.  On a side note big NCKA honors and thank you's to Clara Ricabal, NCKA member, who assisted in apprehending and holding the murder suspect prior to offical law enforcement arrival.  Clara you are truly a hero, who knows how many lives you may have saved on Sunday.  Thank you for your bravery!!

Good job Clara

I was out in the yard when basically ALL of our county sheriff vehicles went screaming past my house (likely they were at the coast since it was Saturday), and I knew something major was up.

Years back we almost bought a house up on the lane where the perp lived, it is way up there.
The apprehension went down very close to Mountain Ease, our local yoga studio where my wife teaches. They had a teacher training session going on when this all went down.

Thanks to Clara and the neighborhood, and to the citizen who reported the sketchy van in the first place. And the pittie who helped in the apprehension! Good dog!

RIP deputy Damon Gutzwiller. He was also involved in the anti-tobacco grant that OSO was working on with the county.
A tragic day for the SC mountain community.
