Woke up early as BALLS this morning to launch at Capitola.. was one of the most beautiful mornings ever. Trolled for some butts around the orange buoy with a flasher and swimbait rig, but no hits. Got a few rockfish though! Proud to say my first fish on a yak was an olive rockfish!

Tight lines~

Looks like a good day to me! How early did you wake up? Gotta be careful with the madness. Pretty soon you’ll be going to bed at 7pm to wake up at midnight and make the drive to catch the fish  :smt044

A butt and WSB like that from the yak are basically my life goals, HA. See you out on the water!

Congrats on the nice Olive.  They are great eating and I love their fight.  I hope you catch bigger and more fish next time.

Hi - I am new to kayaking.  Did you launch on the side of the capitola pier?  Where did you park.

There is neighborhood parking up the street, but it's permit parking on weekends and holidays after 10AM.

You can park up the hill, just across from the railroad tracks, near the trailer park (if that’s not clear, let me know and I’ll post a picture). The parallel parking there has no restrictions, as far as I know.

It’s worth noting that Capitola is a bit sharky....

2 yrs ago i had a juvenile GWS ( about 8 ft ) take  a live croaker just past the old sponge bob . He launched a good 5 feet out of the water and severed my line with hardly a tug. Of course i was in a boat.  :smt001
