I'd like something reasonably simple. Don't really need more than clipping points for radio, knife, pocket for car key. Considering the Stohlquist Keeper or Fisherman. I know y'all are all different proportions and peddling styles but how do you feel about the high-back style vs the thin foam style of PFDs? I'm wondering if the high-back gets pushed caught on the high seat, or if your legs push the PFD up while you peddle. Thanks!

I have both high back and full thin foam style.  I think either one works fine.  I would focus more on price and where you want to store your gears on the PFD (i.e. pockets, attachment points, etc).

I'm admittedly new to Kayak fishing.  Started out with Kokatat Leviathan (high back), felt good in store, plenty of storage, nice flotation design features.  Found out that I didn't use half of the storage and because I have a short torso, when seated, part of the high back flotation was resting on my back.  Switched to the Stolquist keeper and i'm happy with it.  Minimal storage and thin foam back design.

I use Stolhquist Fishermen on Revo with vantage seat. aI have no issue with riding up and high back clears the back rest for me.

Anyone have experience with the Astral Ronny?  I’m also considering thin back vs high back on a few different models.  The Ronny has a good price point.

ok first its pedaling not peddling..your not selling something.   :smt002.

I have that model and used both on my paddle kayak (Ok T13 and Eddyline C-14) and my pedal kayak (revo 13) ..no problems for me

LOL oh man you're killing me. You'd think all that time in school would've learned me something.

Which model PFD are you using? Thanks for the input!

I liked the features (drink holder!) but ultimately decided against it because I've had bad experiences with velcro wearing out and not being sticky; even after trimming the worn out Velcro, I wasn't confident in the security of my stuff, and wanted a zipper on pockets instead.

Grateful for the input yall. CCK's doing curbside pickup so I'll see if I can put it on first. Maybe I'll see some of you on the water, I'll probably be the guy in a new PFD. First fishing trip in over a month on Friday!

I'm using a NRS Chinook for my Hobie vantage seat. It's been pretty comfortable so far!

I’m sportin’ an Astral Ronny and have no issues other than the clip on radio doesn’t fit anywhere so I attach it on a loop!with a clip on my center.  Store knife, candy, harmonica, whistle, sometimes phone, license.  I am satisfied with it and got it on sale...

+1 on the Chinook. Revo vantage seat, zero issues.

Thanks to everyone who put in their input. Been using the Stohlquist Keeper for the last couple months. Overall impression- I like it. I wish it had half the number of pockets so it was lower profile, but there are enough attachment points that I can carry what I need- license, car key, radio, knife. All the extra pockets have started to tempt me to stuff more stuff in there- gloves when I take them off, lip balm, phone when I need to be reachable, bandana, pliers, etc. I got dumped in the bay once and had to do re-entry; it wasn't too bad but it would've been easier with one fewer pair of pockets. The thin-foam back is pretty comfortable, and I haven't had problems with it riding up. It is significantly cooler than the basic PFD I wore last season- on some of the cooler mornings in June I ended up wishing I wore more than my customary henley/farmer john wetsuit.
