Agreed. I'm glad some of these guys weren't around to try to tell me how to kayak fish when I first started.

Let's all chill on the safety police BS. There's no need to keep piling it on once the point has been made.

And Blobfish - a lot of us, including most of the members who have responded to this topic, have had to rescue people on the water that weren't properly prepared to be out there in the first place. That's why some here are so passionate about safety. Even though some people here go about it the completely wrong way, they are mostly good people who care about the safety of others. Don't let a few jack-asses ruin this place for you.

I'm probably going to get fired for Googling "Gay Hammerhead" at work, but I couldn't help it.

Unfortunately, this was the best I could find.

just something to chew on..I know cold water extreme temps..but the idea...

The notion that experience equates to a know it all attitude......I think that’s generally just a trait of an a-hole, whether they’re experienced or not. I’ve been humbled by the ocean, surfing, diving and boating, more times than I care to admit. I’ve only developed a greater respect for it as I learned my own boundaries.  Exactly the opposite of the authors inference.......and I’d say that’s true for the majority of the people I know.

Ok.

I  just threw it out there.
Wear one , don’t wear one , I was just putting it out there as somebody else’s view point.

Whether you or anyone else agrees , I really don’t care
It was just an article I had on file .

It won’t change what Al Bundy did in 1966

NCKA at its best

Representing takes on a whole new meaning when it consists of insulting people who are getting into the sport

From his posts sounds like blobfish has a lot of ocean experience

One of the originals here was known for wearing shorts and shirt on the ocean, don’t remember anyone here chewing him a new asshole

Seems to be a new standard for talking to people who intro themselves here or have alternate takes

You got the point on responsibility, situational awareness and the sclerotic hysteria of this board. Deal with it as you may. I will not write one more word on this subject.

I guess not!  Go easy on Blobfish.  He apparently could not contain himself.  Only lasted three and a half hours before commenting again.

Tall order, but agree. Need to add “raise my electrical service cost”.

I’m sorry we will are bound to be disappointed.

I think it is a good thing he wasn't wearing a life jacket. There are too many people in this world. Let's let the dumb ones die off as they please. When I fish freshwater warm lakes I typically don't wear my life jacket. Maybe I'm dumb too? Maybe not. But I've never felt it was of dire importance nor is it illegal. However, I've grown up a swimmer and played water polo in college. So my swimming ability is probably higher then the average person. Also, humans pretty much float. You can stay buoyant with very little use of energy if you know what you are doing. The ocean is a whole different story. 100% life jacket in the ocean. I only take it off to lean over to the side and go peepee of the kayak.  :smt002
