So I got about 2 years use from this Raymarine Dragonfly pro 7, off my kayak. In the last month or so it has been working only occasionally. I noticed some corrosion where the wires make contact with the fish finder itself. I took it to my local westmarine, the guy there said to use baking soda and water to fight against the corrosion, which actually helped for a while. Today though I tried to power it on and it would not work. I looked and noticed one of the pins were missing, it appears it has snapped off and is logged into the wiring. I assume this happened because of the corrosion. What do ya'll think, has this ever happened to any of you? Do any of you ever wash this connection spot with fresh water after fishing in saltwater, I feel maybe i should start to do this? I'm going to get in contact with ray marine as soon as I can. Looking at maybe getting a lowrance hook to replace, anyone have any experience with this unit?

Yes it is a common thing if you don’t use dielectric grease. You need to apply dielectric grease to all electronic.

I have a different brand (Garmin) but similar connector. I wash it after every outing in salt water, and use dielectric grease about once or twice per year. It's lasted many years.
