Covid-19: Back to work soon?

I literally get my haircut in a back alley. I feel like he should be offering bathtub gin and abortions too, but so far it’s just haircuts.

Dang...cheap rent I suspect...I'd stay away from those other two offerings if he expands his business...what do you get for a Lost Coast Alley cut?  20$  Is he gouging like a good capitalist?

I'm 29$ for kids + tip...Marin County, actually 0$ for 0 cuts so who am I to say...not to knock Eureka rates, he might be taking advantage of desperate groomies...it's a barter life now...offer him some pork or cheese and see if he bites...

For $29 I’ll bring my kids over for a cut as soon as your up and running.

Update: checked with the kids and my daughter declined, she’s a hair stylist too, and prefers to pick out her own stylist. My son declined also, he’s in the ARMY and gets his cuts for free. Sorry, I tried, and I haven’t forgotten about your live bait donations I’ll get even someday.

Thanks man!  Not to worry...I am glad that haircuts do matter and they are on the edge of essential.  I have clients from all over the bay area and we'll see who keeps comin.'  I am glad I've made many mistakes over a 50,000 haircut career that have refined my talent.  I'm just gettin' started....there are lots of alleys in Berkeley I suspect...

 

Let's face it, at one point whether things are under control or not, the cities, counties, states, and Country will open back up. 

Would love to hear people opinion on this, probably a good idea not to linger on what had happened or what's going on currently.   I understand that this may be a hot topic and I guess anything goes.

I would like to hear about prevention/precaution steps that people will take.  Another good topic of discussion is impact of economy within 6-12 months of opening California (albeit maybe in stages).

My wife and I are developing a plan to re-open our restaurants to dine in customers. We are currently open for takeout and delivery, and have already implemented some COVID precautions. I’d be interested in other (thoughtful) ideas.

Our precautions include:

All staff masked all the time  (currently in place)
Take temp of all staff every morning (currently in place)
Phone/online payment only (will change when dine in is opened)
No customers allowed inside restaurant (will change when dine in is opened)
Increased paid sick leave for staff (in place)

Hand sanitizer at entrance/exit
Disposable menus
Dedicated gloved dish busser
Blocked off tables and booths to provide distance between patrons.
Signage

Good list and I have no doubt that you have a good grasp on the virus on how to properly handle the situation. I might suggest that you strongly encourage reservations and “sell it” as a more personal dining experience I think that paints it in a positive light and makes people feel lucky for the opportunity. And not really for scientific reasons but I have noticed people are much more comfortable being in the proximity of one another that dining requires if they can be outdoors, it may not be practical or even possible but I observe 10 people eating in the sunshine are a whole lot less suspicious of one another than 10 shut indoors. The reason I stress it be by reservation or arrangement is the entitlement that comes with doing whatever we want whenever want creates a situation that when we can’t do\get what we want we feel resentment, frustration  and are more apt to use bad judgment. Don’t forgo control in your effort to be gracious and make people happy.

Don't feel bad. I went through with two different significant purchases post-SIP order, that were set up prior to March 15. One because it was a screaming deal, the other because I had already waited months for this item to get back in stock. Say adios to $1350. I know where my stimulus money's going.....

We are currently working on new regulations and operating procedures for when MBK opens back up. We will still probably have social distancing in place when we are open so we are working on a system to do everything outside and cycle gear in a way that after washed it won't be used again for a minimum of 3 days. Tour sizes and policies will change to ensure customers are safe and our staff are too!

I drove by MBK yesterday and saw cars parked at the park next to your building.  Do you know this park is open and can we launch kayak from there?

As of right now yes. But they closed off lovers as too many people were coming. If you do plan on coming I suggest during the week. The weekends the parking lot is full and I fear they will close it down like a few other places if everyone shows up there to fish

Pro tip...I use a ruler and pull straight out several places and make sure I have relative consistency throughout.  Take the risk for fun...it might build a Kodak moment like no other.  We’ll hang some salmon pics before you know it.  Be well and I appreciate all your hashing out of this historic event...
