Any thoughts on how I can repair or replace the base of the stem on my wheeleez beach tire while Bay Area on lock down? Sun is shining! I am trying to go out on my trident 15 this weekend before I have to go back to work, but it looks like it might be awhile. Thanks for any suggestions! I am trying to keep from having to buy brand new due to uncertain employment in the future.

If it’s just a small pinhole, you could try pulling the stem out of the Shrader valve and adding something something like Stans or Slime (used to seal tubeless bike tires).

Probably want to test the materials for compatibility before you pour any in there...

Maybe a Co2 bike tire inflator....or bring a portable bike pump.

Any weight on the wheel deflates it immediately.  I’ll go check the bike shops to see what they have if any are open.

You can replace the piston in the stem if that's the problem.

So with SIP in hand, you got me thinking so I went out and looked at mine. If the leak is around the outside of the stem. This is what I would do. The washer fits fairly well around the stem, and with a little tightening seals against the tire in the recess, I'd probably throw in some goopy sealer under the washer to help the metal to rubber seal and the seal around the nut and washer.  That ought to fix the leak. Bike shops should definitely have those nuts. Then there will only be a few threads sticking up so getting air in will be a challenge, I would take the core out and get an extension with it's own seal, but then also the threads in most extensions I start pretty deep up in the extension, I have the ability to deal with that (a grinder) but there are other options on extensions. Bike shop and tire shop.  Or disregard all of this and consider it the rambling of an extreme DYI guy,

Good luck.

I would seriously put the wheel in a tub with water.. and see where it’s leaking from..

I had to replace this and it was a quick fix! Got it at Walmart.

Thanks for all the help everyone! The leak was right at the base of the stem. I went to the bike shop and I think I got it fixed taking it apart at the shop and letting an tire expert help out. Sealant should be dried up by tomorrow. I’ll test it in the morning and see how it goes!

When you test it, remember that it only needs 3-4 psi -I think it's written on the tire. If you don't have an accurate low range gauge (I got one from Wheeleez when I picked up my cart in Benecia) err on the low side and get it just firm enough with a load on so the tire isn't real flat.
