Alright Sean... way to go!  Thanks.  From what I've seen, Okuma's kayak rods are probably the most legitimate "kayak rods" that any of the manufacturers have come up with yet.  (they float)

Not only do they float, they have a kayaker engraved right into the EVA!

More seriously, the designers at Okuma have a true kayak fishing background, which is expressed in the rods with: somwhat shorter butts for sit-down fishing, integrated leash tabs, durable components (stainless, coated multi-foot guides) and kayak-tuned actions.

I'll leave it to guys like Erik to pass technical judgements on the choice of power curves.

There are four things that can make a kayak rod stand out as a specialty instrument in my opinion:

1.  Floatation
2.  Slightly shorter butt (I don't care what Quantum says).
3.  Attachment point for a leash (just in case)
4.  Composite blank with a fiberglass tip... more durable in a high-sticking situation.

I think Okuma probably came closest to the mark with this one.  Looks like Ric is bringing his kayak fishing influence to that company.

For those of you like me who like photos as a reference, here's the TackleTour Review of the "Quantum Kayak"..

http://tackletour.com/reviewquantumkayakpre.html

It seems these rods have a pretty long butt section to me.

Sweet!  Thanks PAL... I'll add it to the raffle prize list.

Will you be making it up to the derby in person this year?
