Anyone been out on Tomales for clams, halibut or crabs recently? I know Blake's is closed but I've seen some turnout launches.

My buddy is a Park Ranger over on the Sonoma Coast and he has been issuing tickets to people breaking the stay at home order.  He said initially they were trying to educate more than cite but people just won't follow the rules so the cheap tickets are $100 and as things progress the expensive tickets could cost you $1000.  I would stay home.  I work at Kaiser ( I worked in the Covid/ cough clinic last Tuesday and Friday and I will work there again on Tuesday ) and my wife is a public health nurse for sonoma county working with Dr. Mase our Health Officer doing the contact tracing and talking to all the + people to help notify people that have been exposed so they can get tested and quarantine.  For us and for you, please give it a couple more weeks and follow the rules.

Thank you for your services. I too wish people would follow the rules,  but they'll justify their fishing trip by saying they're practicing social distancing.

I haven't heard of any fishing restrictions in Marin County.  If there aren't any, get out there and catch some dinner.  I've got the Sacramento River in my backyard, so all I get to fish for right now are Stripers.  Still several launch ramps open up here.

There are no fish in tomales anyways. Worst place to fish ever. Stay local during this mess and fish the Petaluma river for stripers and sturgeon.

Justify what exactly?  Why that choice of words?

Now we have to justify going fishing?  I don’t think so.   If it’s open, legal, and can be done so safely, nobody has to justify anything to anybody. Petaluma to Tomales is what, half an hours drive?

Ugh.

Tomales Bay is open to fishing.  That’s not against the rule.  The problem is all the boat launches are closed, specifically Miller.  Unless you’re the local resident (within walking/biking distance) I don’t think you’re to park and launch from any of the pull off lots.

Trust me, I’m tempt to go as well, but Marin is lock down pretty tight to travelers right now.

According to Lawson's Landing report, Marin County is issuing $100 tickets with mandatory court appearance to cars parked at locations other than the registered owner's home or an essential business. I'm not going to risk it.

While at the same time releasing convicted criminals from jail due to the fear they might catch the virus.  :smt011

I just spent that to rent a stump grinder for the backyard. Should have used it for a parking ticket! Stump grinding is not what I would call fun.

Again according to Lawson's, the mandatory court appearance can bump it up to $500. I'd probably pay $100 to go halibut fishing right now, but $500 plus losing half a day driving down to San Rafael and back for court makes working in the back yard sound like a better option for me.

Was just inquiring about reports since I've seen a few boats and kayakers out and wondered how things are shaping up. I don't plan to head out to Tomales before May 3rd. Plenty of opportunity to tune gear in the interim.
