Been kayak fishing for 12 years, first introduced to it by a guy who went by John the Fishermen or JTF that moved to Hawaii years ago. Grew up in the East Bay fishing for halibut and stripers before moving to Washington State. Spent the majority of my life breaking down fishing into a science both recreationally and professionally. I'm pretty knowledgeable with fishing in the Bay and normally will take a fishing trip down there in May to hurt some halibut.

Welcome. I like your scientific approach...

Like when you prove that you're far more likely to hook a salmon on a tidal exchange?

Do you have any research to suggest that would hold in the open ocean and not just in a place like MA 9&10?

Sadly I don't. I would assume that it's similar to the ocean though, maybe not with such dramatic peaks around the exchanges but that's speculation.

For commercial fishing offshore, say five plus miles out, tidal changes were not much of a consideration. Late in the season, close to shore in a spot like Bolinas, tides did have a bite or no bite effect on salmon rounding the corner and heading into the bay and Sacramento river to spawn.

Definitely one of the cooler cats I’ve met here.  Anyone know how’s he’s been, last I remember he was on Oahu and focused on the grappling arts.
