I was just at Berryessa @ Steele Canyon yesterday evening. Berryessa is open and so is all the other camping vendors. Campground is nearly booked this weekend at Steele.  And I'll be there. Lake was Beautiful and fishy

Just realized the other day that there were no party boats around, this combined with less fishing pressure though the season should lead to more fish to fry next season!

Silver Lining perhaps.... was also thinking how this will effect Ocean and Timber Coves up this way ,wondering what their plans are , if Stillwater North ,Ft.Ross and Salt Point are closed for RF

SWN and other hike in from the highway spots shouldn't be affected..... I hope.

I was wondering the same thing. It is a Sonoma County Regional Park though, so I allegedly it'll be closed.

I'm pretty bummed about the parks. I try to hike 20ish miles a week after work for mental health reasons more so than physical. I did the neighbor today instead. Not nearly as helpful.

I do the same thing for the same reason. My local State Park haunt has been overrun with people from Sacramento, so I’ve switched it up to neighborhood walks. The neighborhood hikes aren't as nice, but at least I’m able to get outside without encountering other humans. I feel for those who are living in higher density areas.

I saw a commercial fisherman say that they were approached by SFPD to check their commercial license while out in the bay.  Boats that were commercial were fine, sport fisherman vessels were escorted back to launch. Not a good sign.

Weak.  This makes no sense.

FYI - Still Water South was closed over the weekend but Isaac called yesterday and they said the beach access is back open. Still might want to call ahead just in case.

Charter Boats? 6-packs? Father/Mother and Daughter/Son Combos? Solo Skiffers?

Anything with CF numbers and not FG numbers.. FG is a commercial fishing boat and CF is state rec. I'm assuming non CF numbered boats like yak are lumped into the same category.

I also heard of CDFW ticketing boats if noncommercial, but i called them and they said they are in no way doing that and they are saying fishing is fine if we follow social distance guidelines.  I called SMC sheriff and 211 and heard the same information from them.

I'd like to point out this was a social media post so keep that in mind.

From the post it said that they were basically checking to make sure the people on the boat were commercial fisherman with a commercial license.

SFPD might just be approaching boats with multiple people on them as multiple people on a boat who don't live together are certainly not practicing social distancing.

Why not contact sfpd if it was allegedly them that escorted boats off the water?

Not that I don’t trust a commercial fisherman but this sounds a bit fishy

One other possibility, sfpd may have been enforcing boating regulations also.  Check commercial documentation, others sent hone for other violations; life jackets, signaling devices etc.  seen them enforcing it to a T during fleet week and pd we’re sending boats back.  We’re liable to see all kinds of kooks coming out on the water now that it’s one of the last sanctuaries we can visit.

State of Washington just shut down rec fishing and shell fishing completely. Hope that doesn’t give CA any ideas, because that’s insane. Take people, out then out of work, then don’t let them take fish to eat. What could possibly go wrong?  If I was wearing a tinfoil hat I’d wonder if FEMA camps were next. After proper testing of course.

I love fishing shenanigans....especially when it comes to intel.  I seen the  story line, The cynic in me naturally assumed thIs to be a formal announcement that the halibut are here and they’re on the chew within the sfpd jurisdiction  :smt003

Called SFPD Maritime unit today ( i actually call every day these days)- They said that there NOT kicking or escorting any boats off the water unless they do not pass a CG/license check (Essential Items, People on Board, Documentation, Etc.). Same rules as always.  I posted this information on Instagram and had 4 Commercial hali guys messaging me to tell me to take it down ASAP and a group chat was started by them about my post... Sounds like a whole lot of Commercial Fishing BS to me.
