So our sales department at the dealerships have been deemed non essential and they have all been let go. Business is tanking. 18-20 oil changes a day down from 50-60 per day. staff cuts.... Again.... wonder if the government can get out of their own way long enough to get us some help. We are fine for now but I can see the axe hanging over my neck. Never had to apply for unemployment before. thinking of getting a 2nd job in Grocery before they stop hiring. Sucks but I'm in better shape than most for now. Stay safe out there :smt001
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

I’m busier at work than I’d hoped to be. People can’t manage to go for a week of stay-at-home without violating court orders or getting drunk and beating their girlfriends in the name of stress?  I’m going to be extra busy for months at this rate.

Be kind to each other and be kind to yourselves.

I have been helping my 40+ staff fill out the confusing unemployment forms. Need to stop bailing out big corporations and start helping out the individuals that are hurting in these desperate times. The billionaires will be fine. I worry about eating and paying rent next month.

^this. I'd like to see the majority of assistance go to the "boots on the ground", where it is really needed.

I'm luckier than most that for now , I am still able to work (in the medical supply field). But I can see vendor supply issues cropping up already as facilities are placing larger orders to stock up.
My friends in the restaurant/brewery biz are the ones I'm worried about right now.

I haven't had to use unemployment in forever and that case was for a torn ligament in my ankle. (SDI ) I tried to log on and was denied with old info. All calls to unemployment are pretty much directed to online services. After 3 days of looking for help , i finally was able to speak to a local agency. It turns out in 2018 my account was reset . Was able to re-register.

I just want to pray that you are all safe and well. Please be careful, and take this threat of spreading this seriously. It came to the US with one person!  :smt006

At the law firm I work at, one of our areas of practice is Employment law. Under the Monterey SIP order, we were not deemed essential, but under the state order, we are. So I've been working from home and we're more busy than ever due to all the law suits coming from this ordeal. I suspect we will see lawsuits for a decade to come due to this fall out.

I'm grateful to still be employed, even though we all took a 25% salary cut during the crisis.

WTF?  You're working and taking a paycut.  From an employment law firm?  That sucks.

I'm paying my staff full hours even though they aren't working full hours for as long as I can.  Having so many mouths to feed relying on me cutting them a paycheck is a heavy burden.  Luckily I, too, am very busy and expect to stay that way.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.
