Hey,

When did they start making all spinning reels without an anti-reverse?

I got this Penn Captiva CV5000 on a steal price ($19.25, hope you all went to www.gofishin.com) and when it came to the office, I tried to reel backwards and couldn't.  Then I looked for the anti-reverse, couldn't find it.  So I go to the Penn website and get the reel schematics - no anti-reverse.  I thought only hoity-toity Van Staal reels didn't go backwards.

I like backwards.  I'm one of those people who crank down the drag to bury a hook, reel backwards then adjust the drag for the fight.  I'm now going to have to actually learn how to set the drag correctly.  This lack of choice bothers me.
