Hey team, are there any anglers who ocean fish during the weekdays? I'm a noob wanting to get out in the ocean but my days off are variable due to work schedule. I wanna fish but not be the only angler out there for safety reasons as I'm new to the area and kayak fishing as well. I have all the safety gear, PFD, VHF radio, drysuit and bilge pump but no fishing buddies who share the same time off or own kayaks (rent only). Who is out there on a regular?

We have many weekday kayakers here and near your area.  I am sure they will chime in.

It's starting to get lighter earlier, and once it does I'll be in full week day fishing mode.

I have Monday as a day off and start really late Tuesdays and can travel.

If I can get out early enough to crab or fish before work (wednesday - Saturday ) I can and will, but sometimes on a strict schedule ( off the water by 9am) , and usually keep close to home as possible ( Pacifica/Monterey/Santa Cruz)

There’s really not much to fish for in the ocean around this time of year. People usually hit freshwater at this time. Let me know if you want to fish sometime. I’m usually off Thur/Fri and every other weekend off. Fairfield here as well  :smt006

Nice! If I find myself free I'll head out that way.

I tried freshwater a few times before and it was nice but what really turned me off was failing a strict inspection at one of the East Bay lakes. I mean there was moisture from my few hours drive there.  :smt010

That's what has detracted me from going to Easy Bay Lakes.

Lake berryessa is more lax when it comes to inspection. There’s also perch fishing from the surf if ocean fish is really your thing.

Halibut are already being caught.  Mostly shakers but a few keepers in the mix.

Stripers and sturgeon from China camp all the way to Suisun . SPB. I’ve been kayaking the hwy 37 ponds and chasing stripers... not a big fan  of fresh water fishing.
