Found a kayak washed up on the rocks.
Also found a kayak trailer left on the ramp area.
If you know who owns this kayak please call or text.

That’s not good.  :smt009

Someone must have seen the owner in the community.
Campsite, ramp...?

Does it look like it’s been in the water long?

Can’t tell by the pics

Kayak was filled with water and sand, gear tracts were ripped out and seat is missing.
Because there was no vehicle with the trailer, I'm assuming the owner made it back to shore then headed back to wherever they were staying to warm up and dry off. salvaged the yak back to the trailer and secured it near the launch office with a note how to claim. Just hope all is well and a good story is told.

Any chance it blew off the trailer? Maybe they left it on the trailer intending to come right back and got sidetracked? Glad to hear all are safe.

So, here's the story
The owner of the kayak went out to drop some crab traps. The fog came in thick and without electronics, he got disoriented an came in west of pilot rock. Says he made it to shore and pushed it up above where waves were crashing. Found his way back to his truck and decided to go back to his room and get some rest while waiting for fog to clear.
We were able to find him after the previous owner contacted his sister who then contacted me and gave a description of him and his vehicle.
Lessons learned;
1. Always carry navigation devices (and know how to use them) on the ocean.
2. Always have communication  devices and let others know what's going on.
3. Always paddle/peddle with a partner.
4. Have your info on/in your kayak in case its found without you.
Today ended with a few lessons learned and egos bruised, but could have easily ended a lot worse.

Great to hear it was a good outcome....
