Really good info for a rookie crabber, thank you. Bought a trap and 100 ft of rope from J&S last year, then a couple more and A LOT more weighted rope online. Now that I’ve seen (YouTube) and heard (here) what a pain in the ass it is hauling up from over 100 ft (less?), not nearly as excited as I was. Anyone want a good deal on crab equipment? (joking) And yeah, I was told Ft. Ord, too... but that’s a ways. Buddy of mine said off PG—I went out there once for sand dabs, and took my new pot... didn’t have NEARLY enough rope that first crab attempt (But did come home loaded up with sand dabs. Was happy about that! Out past the red buoy 200-210 ft.)

MBK: took your fishing guide trip when I first bought my Trident 15 (3-4 yrs ago) on a maiden voyage and intro to kayak fishing. The guide was very cool, and pretty funny. Was a beautiful day for... paddling.
