depends on the width of the yak and your height. What are they?

Appears both my kayaks are right about 34, quick internet search, didn't want to go measure myself.
Both my son and I are 5'10' ish.
kayaks are OK big game 13 and a Old Town predator 13.
Will be inexpensive paddles while we learn, and I still have a ton of other gear to buy lol.

I think 240 should be a good size or 250 if you prefer longer paddle.

Great. I may buy one of each length to see which I prefer for down the road when I buy a better one. Thanks.

those sizes ought to be a good starting point. I paddle a 31" wide kayak and use a 230. I went up from a 225 and went with a more touring oriented blade. My paddling style went from a power stroke approach to more of a low angle touring approach which is why I went with a slightly longer shaft and a more "dual purpose" blade design. It gives me just enough "oomph" for surf launches and really shines when covering a few miles. i think my current paddle is a Werner Camano.

One thing you'll notice down the line is that when you upgrade to a higher end paddle from a lower priced model is that the weight difference of a few ounces is very noticeable. Fiberglass shafts or (ugh) aluminum shafts with plastic blades are heavy and may even be less durable in the long term. I've broken a couple during surfing and seen a few fail in rescue clinics.

I started with Werner paddles since I already had experience with them but there are a number of very good manufacturers out there now. I upgraded to a carbon shaft/glass blade about six years ago and even losing 3-4 ounces off the overall paddle weight was apparent.

Many Paddles have adjustable length which makes it easy to find your fit and others can use your paddle also. Nice if you have a Hi/Lo seat also.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

for your kayak width and height, ^^^ this ^^^  I would go 250, although i think 240 will work too.
