I am curious to hear what people are using to catch perch, both freshwater and saltwater, from a kayak. I have surf perch setups but only rarely catch perch from a kayak unless it is by accident when targeting baitfish.

I'm a fan of the old sabiki rig with shrimp.  Lots of spotfin perch for bait

How to catch perch from a kayak:  join AOTY.   :smt003

Basically you want to seek out a spot with sandy or varied bottom and present small bait on small hooks.  The hardest part may be the patience required and the ability to keep your offering from moving around too much.  If there's a perch under or around you and you get a small piece of shrimp on a small hook a foot or two off the bottom you're in the game.  I use a basic dropper loop above a sandbag or an ounce or two of lead.  Hardware can get you hooked up too, but water clarity is sometimes the limiting factor there.

Perch out, bro.   :smt001

Ask Savanna (svnnmddx), she had the big perch at Crabfest this past weekend in Bodega Bay!

I'm interested to hear more about folks approach to this as well. Some nice perch were caught at Crabfest including Savannah's fish as well as a nice mixed stringer that was making it's way through the crowd during the raffle. I gave it a go using Gulps and Kastmasters further down the beach but only managed jacksmelt.

I use Carolina rig with small#2 hook and Gulp sand worms.  Casting at pilings, jetties and docks.  Or sand crabs on same rig.  Light tackle, slack tide.  Hard to keep em off the hook.
