Had to replace the right steering line on my old 2012 outback as it frayed and broke a while back and I haven't gotten around to fixing it.  Figured i'd show the process I used to do it in case it's useful to others.

First here is a shot of the rear broken line, and the tubes it feeds through into the hull, and a shot of the inside where the steering arm connects to the control lines.

Each of the lines for the steering or rudder lines are actually two joined pieces of line, and they are just connected with a lop and a knot. I slipped my replacement rudder line on the tube and slid it down as far as I could inside the hull and then cut the end off the old rudder line, and then pulled the old line up and out through the center hatch so I could undo the loop and remove the old line.

Make a knot in the end of your new line, and then open up the loop and swap out the old line segment for your new line.

Then I had to feed the new line back up the tube, and somehow get it out the other end.  If I had thought of it earlier I would have attached some mono to the end of the old line before pulling it through.  But inststead I shoved some wire up the tube, and well the end cap popped off  :smt044  So I used some mono to pull the line through the cap and put it back in place.

This line runs through the bolt on the rudder to the other side, and wrapped around a screw to keep it in place.  Added a knot at the end for good measure after testing the steering right to left and up and down to make sure I didn't get any of the cables crossed or hung up, and then cut the extra line off.  Worked great, cant wait to give it a shot and see what the Old Outback feels like again  :smt004

Yep, very useful - accessing those lines can be a major PITA.

The Hobie rudder system is pretty clever, but can be tricky, so this will surely be useful to others who attempt to do such work.
Are you pondering what I’m pondering?
