Hello all,

So my husband brings home a "normal" sized 13" milk crate for me to use in my Prowler 15 behind the seat......alas a 13" milk crate will not fit - I don't think they make smaller milk crates that will work in a Prowler - do they???

It would have had to be 12.5" or smaller squared - anyone have any luck with this one?

Thanks.

Kim

Kim,

Check out Target or similar. When I first was setting up my crate I started there but the ones they carried were to small for my needs on the Tourer. Might be too small for your needs as well if you are trying to fill up the tank well like I was but they did have small crates for under $10.00.

I'll just add that any polyethylene milk crate can but cut up & welded back together in whatever shape is desired. I used to use a standard size milk crate with my Cayman, but when I upgraded kayaks to the Tarpon 140 I found the tankwell was set farther back and the standard crate made reaching into the tarpon tankwell problematic. I took the sawzall to it to remove about  a 4" wide section, and then used a craft-style soldering iron/hot knife to "weld" up the sides. I threw a few zip ties on it for added strength, and now enjoy my custom sized basket every time I need to flip a fish into the tankwell.
Just do the welding in an area with adequate ventilation!

I will check at work tomorrow we get some weird size ones sometimes.

Office Max has some that fit the P15, and they are light and  flexible enough not to crack (or to crack your ribs if you fall on it), but stiff enough to do the job.  Regular milk crates are way too heavy, IMO.   You can saw notches out of the bottom so it will fit around the protrusions in the tank well if you want it up close to you. I took two and cut the ends out of them and fit them together to make a long one, and just drilled holes and used some 50 lb test mono and sewed them together.  Use plastic gutter downspout for rod holders-it's lighter than pvc pipe.

Thanks everyone :smt006

I'll check out Officemax and see what I can find - the top of my transducer sticks out of one of the rear scupper holes which also causes the 13" crate not to fit.

Sounds like with a little duct tape and wire I can make something work!  :smt002
