Sometimes you just have to go for it and find out what your limits are.     launching is usually  the easy part, it's coming back in that can sometimes be a ,,,  Slam Down   :smt005

If you think you can get out of the worst case scenario, then seriously, go for it.  If not, sit back and do some more reading on surf launch/landings.

Btw, have you read the thread right before this one about rescue at HMB?  Just don't be the guy to end up on someone's report/story.

Whoa - the surf looked tiny and it was still making turtles. One of the guys looked like he expected to roll and just relaxed into it.

Watching those surf landings my my sphincter pucker.  I'm spoiled by launches/landings out of Pillar Point Harbor.

We’ve all been schooled by the ocean. I’ve saled in ankle slappers due to inattention and complacency, and on the other hand, nailed big and heavy beach break when necessitated.

Unless I’m missing something, better prep and technique shoulda mitigated some o those landings. Video angle and location can miss detail tho. What is the backstory?

Posted in another thread, but was out there Sunday and saw two separate incidents where kayakers flipped amd had to be rescued by surfers. MSW listed surf as 5-7' so be forewarned that specific height is too hectic to land safely. 2 out of the 3 yaks landing that day Had to be dragged outta the surf by surfers. Kayaks were recovered as rockaway will just toilet boil your yak around until it spits it up near shore.

Thanks for sharing that video Victor !     I've seen several others, but this was the best overall !

Awesome seeing all our old friends,, ( NorCal and CenCal) guys OTW.     :smt006
Best part... " Andy got run over by a Raptor"..   ( Think,,, Christmas Jingle  ) :smt044 :smt044 :smt044

I remember watching one guy, ( Bobby ) come in on a T16 , big surf, sideways, relaxed and braced into the wave for a Perfect Landing !

Funny hearing the call on the radio that morning.   "  Uh, guys,,, the landing isn't the same as it was when we went out "   That got a lot of people stowing rods and reels before the landing calamity.
