After Mel Cottons, now Fisherman Warehouse :-( I was there last week with my wife to get squids, went back today to get barbless hooks to find out they are definitely closed

Too bad, but I never could understand why they moved from Cupertino to just a couple blocks away from Bass Pro.

I'm not really a fan of Fishery Supply. It's in a terrible location wrt getting in and out, not to mention parking-wise. And it deserves about -10 stars for customer service.

Is Coyote Bait and Tackle still around? That is (was?) pretty nice, IMHO.

It all depends. They are a small mom's and pops store and she ( the owner) doesn't speak much English. Her sons do. Since I speak Vietnamese and they can relate they have always treated me well there.

She loves to hear my fish stories and has always been friendly to me. I've been going there for over 10+ years.
We call her our "fish mom" cause she always treads us like her fish kids. Lol.

+1  I've been shopping there for a long time and she always nice to me (her name is Mai by the way).  Maybe you should learn to speak VNmese  :smt003

I go there for the coffee and lap dances  :smt007

thanks for the heads up.  hopefully the new location won't be too far out.

i got some yucky smelling tray anchovy from fishery supply last time and also agree that going into that side of town isn't the most enjoyable no offense...but the place is effective if they have what you need hardware wise.

Spoke to Alan that worked at FW, randomly saw him on the Beach Yesterday, said the store is moving to Fairfield. so. yeah.

Too bad about the tray chovies at Fishery Supply.  I've pretty much been only buying my bait from them every week for the past 15 months sometimes 3 or 4 times a week, squid, bag chovies, mackrel and I haven't gotten anything that seemed off. so hopefully it was a one time thing?  I agree the Area of Story sucks for traffic, but meh, FW parking lot was pretty crazy busy too it's San Jose.

I've always had a good time there except Mai's husband? doesn't really know the prices of everything, so he's gotta go find her and ask haha.  Best prices on bait anywhere I've found in San Jose, and I've been getting the cash discount since day one.  She was always asking me how crabbing was going earlier in the year.

If coyote bait and tackle was easier to get to, I'de be there all the time as well. I love that place they're always over the top helpful when I've been there. a nice blend of humble and knowledgeable. and also really great prices.
