Happy Fourth of July to you all...

Melissa and I decided to hit Tahoe for a couple of days of R and R. But, that depends on who you are talking to. She's pretty sore from paddling and pretty tired from getting up at dark o'clock both days. Yesterday started out great... we met up with Zilla and paddled out into flat, cool, windless conditions. Too bad fishing wasn't so good though. It was pretty slow from beginning to end. I'm thinking that the full moon may have had something to do with it. We dropped our minnow traps and after a short soak, we were baiting up and dragging minnows. Zilla had the hot hand yesterday landing a nice mack and a really nice buck bow. The mack was tagged too. The 'bow came later in the morning top lining the flats. His mac went just over 24" and the rb trout went about 22" if I remember correctly. Melissa managed to hook into a nice 'bow herself... just about 19". I was smelling like a skunk though... no love for me. I was really stoked that Melissa hooked up though. It was her birthday and I didn't want her to get skunked. After a ton of sushi at Hiro's and a really nice fireworks display... we were off to get ready for the next morning.

This morning started off just like yesterday's... sweet conditions. Met Zilla and a friend of his at the launch. This morning started off quick though. Melissa was reeling in her first fish at about 7am. Her first mack... too bad it wasn't a big one but, it was good enough. After that, the fishing really went down hill until about 8:30. Melissa hooked into another small mack that we were able to burp and send back to grow up. About 20 minutes later, I finally hooked into a typical mack. He put up a nice fight... I would've released him but he was hooked too deep. I also noticed that this mack had a tag on him as well. The tag read, "Big Mac 3023" with a local phone number on it. I called the number but, I couldn't make out the name of the guy on the machine. I think he's a guide up there though. I left a message with the details of the fish and my info... maybe he'll call me or something. After that, the fishing died down again. Zilla and his friend Chris held out as long as they could. They decided to take off and give the flats a try. No love for either of them today. Just as they were taking off, Melissa hooked up again. Another smallish mack that finished off her limit of macs. She did really well out there both days. She even snagged a micro flasher rig that I lost two weeks ago. I couldn't believe it when she reeled it in, but there it was. She had some trouble fishing with so much line out but, she hung in there like a champ. She took off to troll the flats as I was trying to get a snag out. After losing my rig, I hooked up with a little guy. He was full of piss at the surface and didn't take much for him to get back down. I met up with Melissa on the flats for nada. Today's totals were 5 macs, 2 released... keepers went 24", 20" and 19". All in all, a great day on the lake. We could've fished all day both days. The wind never really kicked up. I can't wait to get back up there...

I'll post some pics later...

Freddie

The wind wasn't there because I wasn't there. Seems to follow me every time.
Nice job and congrats to Melissa. Happy Birthday!

Tote... you're not kidding.  I think just about every photo you've taken from Tahoe showed white caps.

Jason-

The scenery was great... lots of bikini clad hotties everywhere... Actually, we stayed on the north side and I couldn't see any difference out there. No ash on the water or anything. Everything looked really nice... on and off the water...

Tote-

Let's see who's got more power at Tahoe... you and your wind or me and my FAC conditions on the lake. We got to hook up out there sometime...

Great Report Freddie!  Those flat days on Tahoe are the best.  Cool shot of the Tahoe Yeti and his little buddy.

Freddie, great report,  :smt001.

Are idiots in powerboats a problem at all?

did you hit any other lakes up there or just the big one?

GB2-

I'll be back up there in a couple of weeks with the boys. I'm hoping that the weather holds up. Maybe we'll run into eachother.

John-

PBers were a major problem. One A hole pretty much squeezed his way by Melissa... I'm talking close. That same jerk even blew an air horn at us. The areas we fished was pretty much unfishable by 11am... not because of Ma Nature, but because of the boat traffic. It was nuts...

Tote-

Me too brother... I may have to take some fridays off or maybe even some Mondays and sneak up there...
