When I tie salmon rig, I would like my hook to stay put at a position. Move to another position when I use a bigger or smaller bait.

Is there a "thing" that can slide to position and hold a line in place?
Something similar to egg bead.

Maybe a split shot? Though that could weaken your leader.

i have done it sort of with a rubber band or bobber stop.  also with the sliding snell. but i prefer just to use a rotating head and let the second hook run free with a fixed double snell.

Chet - Are you talking about using this along with a Krippled Anchovy or some other “helmet” style bait holder?

If so, all you need to do is wedge a toothpick into the eye of the bait holder where the line threads through, then snap off the excess. It wonÂ’t damage your leader, but it makes it very easy to slide out the right amount of line then pull it snug to hold the right bend in your bait.

I always stick the front hook through my bait and let the trailing hook dangle right behind the bait (for short hits).

I have used:
1. tooth picked method, it still slide when fast trolling.
2. The 2 hooks method is good when using 1 size bait, I like to change bait size.

If the toothpick is sliding, you just need to wedge it in there tighter. It’ll get as tight as you want it.

If you give a little more detail about the terminal tackle you’re working with I might have other suggestions.
