Shark Shield vs. GWS

Just buy one Shark Sheild...............wife doesn't need one.

The batteries are the most expensive component in the SS unit. So what I did was buy Two SS and one battery. My wife thinks she has the newer and lighter 2019 model.

How's it bra? I am not much into social media but I have really enjoyed the NCKA community. As far as shark shields go I  don't know. what I do know is that the movie Jaw's projected so much fear into me as a kid that i did'nt ever think I would ever be fishing off a kayak in the frigging Pacific! a few years ago fishing by my self out of Gerstle Cove Sonoma Coast, I saw Jaw's!  The dorsal fin was so big I almost cried. Thinking about all the shark experiences I have heard about, if you paddle out of fear the suit may give you a unwanted visit. I decided we are both here to hunt, at that moment I cast my Big Hammer beside the kelp beds, BANG biggest ling to this day. Shark was long gone.  Point of the story is that when I surrendered my fear I got blessed.

Do some of you guys just wing it without the SS and not worry about the taxman?

This is, by far, most of us.  Having a SS is much more common now, but it's still a vast majority of us that do not have it or do not have it on.

I've been doing this sport for over 20 years and am deeply invested in time on the water.  I've seen one GWS, and it wasn't interested in attacking anything.  I'm not saying you don't need the SS, but having a life threatening encounter is still just a remote possibility, IMO.

Get out there and catch a salmon!
