Launched at 6:15 AM and trolled north through the cove. Tons of bait at the north end, lots of diving birds, but no salmon. I trolled out from Rockaway and had one small strike that could have been anything, then trolled south and fished the rocks for one small copper (released).

Bumped into Chuck and Jason on my way in - sorry to be the bearer of bad news, guys - I hope you found some fish.

The lack of rockfish is really strange...I've never seen it this consistently slow for everyone.

Last time I drove over there it looked pretty insane

The conditions were about as perfect as they've ever been, minus the fish.

Well, if the bait sticks around, i can't imagine why the salmon won't show up. As soon as there are some solid reports, I'll be back there.

so far this year it seems like all the solid reports dry up as soon as you load up your gear

how far offshore did you get?

I just got back and I'm tired from no sleep and fishing all day.  Jason and I were out there from 9:30 to 4pm.

M2 is right --- not much happening at Linda Mar considering lots of bait on the north end  and birds crashing them.  Jason and I tried everything.  I trolled an FBR outside past Pedro and back all the way to , nearly all the way to the Pacifica Pier, and along the surfline near Rockaway where the birds and bait stacked up.  I even tried big live anchovies near the surf and nothing!  Jason didn't do any better.

Ultimately, we gave up and did a little rockfishing.  I managed an underling, and about 5 rockfish (copper, blacks, china) -- quite sad and below par for LM.

I spoke to many of the kayak fishing locals and they haven't seen or caught much lately.  I probably won't be going back there until things improve and get confirmed reports.

Any advice for the guys who are thinking about a trip tomorrow?  Your recon is very helpful.

advice would be not to go.  Check the boards for better confirmed fishing.  I  threw everything but the kitchen sink at the rockies today and not one bite.  chuck got his fish all on one secret lure, that by the way he only had one of.  Right now things are perculating but if you go head north, that is were all the bait is hanging things change daily.

Yeah, I'd say go north to Dux for salmon...I'm still kicking myself for not going up there today, although the reports didn't sound good...but it only takes one 20 plus lb salmon to make it an awesome day!
