I saw this video and it got me thinking:

I could simply add this to my PVC rod holder. The only think that confuses me is whether the mainsheet can quickly detach from the block (the pulley thing) or would I need to thread it through every time?
Anyone else tried this? It would make sail trolling or just sailing a lot more pleasant without having to duck our heads under the main sheet every time the boat turns.

May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

I haven't tried that but I do have a piece of PVC that holds the mainsheet off to the side when the sail is not in use. That keeps the rope away from my head, and is a lot simpler, and does not affect the shape of the sail when it's unfurled...

I don't like stuff that sucks.

I've seen dozens of videos / pictures  / posts with it, and have not heard of any complaints. Hopefully one day I'll have enough inspiration..

That was my first thought when I saw it.        seems it would change the  sails draft/ shape.   He didn't show it furled out.
Sometimes the fish isn't the only prize.
