As much as I love fishing, I hate waking up early.  The exhaustion takes up the rest of the day after going out, and locks up the previous night due to having to be in bed early...alcohol free  :smt012

I grew up bass fishing, where we typically go for the evening bite.  Super convenient and could happen after work.

With ocean/bay fishing, I'm finding it frustratingly difficult to get out on the water.  Either sacrifice my Friday night + Saturday or try and sneak out for a quick session before work.

So this has me thinking, does anyone go for an evening bite in the ocean or bay?

The obvious concern is wind, but it seems wind peaks in the afternoon, then drops off in the evening.  On calm days I don't see why not?  Tell me why I'm crazy or would be wasting my time.

Can't drop a line in the bay from a vessel one hour after sunset.  Otherwise, I'd be out there too.
Shore fishing is open 24 hours though.

I prefer to fish the evenings since I work early hours, but the wind can be an issue.

Go for it, plenty of time between whenever typical people get off work and one hour after sunset to give it a go. I also despise the early hours of morning but must admit the really good guys are getting their fish at dawn rather than dusk...

Yes imagine the window of fishing is small from if/when the wind dies down till dark?

Yep I figure if I can get some evening rockfish sessions in I'll be happy.  Salmon would be interesting

I used to fish stripers at night along Benicia shores. Seems the bigger fish comes closer to the banks for some midnight snacks. There’s still lots of night fishermen along Benicia shore at night, few comes from the southbay. It’s not my kind of fishing anymore but sometimes I still go chat with old buddies while they wait for the bite!
No ocean too deep, no tide too high, no weather too bad...Let’s go paddle around and have some fun! Fish on!
