Just wanted to let you know that I finished my outrigger pontoon setup (whew!  What a long project!  Based it on a solid design from Youtube, just kept them closer to the kayak since I don't anticipate standing on it, but I probably could anyway because it is sooooo stable.  I am able to lean way over on the boat and it resisted perfectly, just like when a slightly different wave tips me in an unexpected way while I am focused on fishing or if I turn toward the back to get something..  I made it so that the pontoons never touch the water except when leaning ever so slightly one side or the other.  The crab pot floats I made it from are super buoyant and I hardly notice they are there except that the boat is so much more stable.   They are detachable.

I usually launch at Pilar Point Harbor.  I live in Pacifica so also launch at Linda Mar when it is flat enough.  There have been very few days lately suitable for fishing from a kayak (for me).  If anyone would like to see someone else out there when they want to go, just post a response to me.  I've fished also Pescadero area.  I fish close to shore if I don't see anyone else out further.

The Youtube page for this design is:

Impressive!

Is it just me, or does that guy in the video look like Dr. Evil?

Thanks for the positive responses.  Condensation isn't an issue since the pvc separates for removal and they are hollow inside.  The pontoons are solid foam.

As for looking like Dr. Evil, ageing can turn what was once a long haired hippie to.....Dr. Evil..it happened to me!
