Hi everyone, I'm extremely new to kayak fishing – and to be honest I still am not sure if it's for me yet. However I decided to join this forum to research and gain confidence through the knowledge that everyone is passing on. I've taken my yak out a few times in Shadow Cliffs lake for trout fishing but want to do more than trout fish...

A little about myself:
  • Fremont resident, but I frequent the Delta Areas a lot, particularly around Fairfield.
  • I am paddling with a VIBE Sea Ghost 110 (11ft) fishing kayak.
  • I am a rookie angler, but want to take this more seriously. I really want to turn my attention to saltwater angling more but I'll ease into that.
If anyone has links to some posts I should read concerning fishing tips, water locations that are friendly for novice angling paddlers, or safety tips please send them over!

Thanks so much for reading. I look forward to growing and learning more about this.
I'm just doin' more of whatever the hell makes me happy...

Welcome.

I'd spend some time reading in the "Safety First" and "General Fishing tips" forums for more information and gear setup for saltwater.   Once you get your 10 post count, the forum will open up more to you.

Welcome!!  I'm also a new Kayak Angler and just joined recently.  The best advice I could think of after the safety reading etc, is post up, check Hook ups and go and meet people from this forum.  If it's your first time out there, let some people know I'll bet you'll get someone willing to help, give you tips on the particular launch that you're at, and other tips to stay safe out there.

Fishing with other kayakers is really way more fun that I thought it would be when I went out the first time.  And my first time was really lucky to go with some member's of this forum, so get out there!

Are you pondering what I’m pondering?
