Liquid Fusion Kayaking is selling two nearly-new Swell Scupper 14 kayaks.

I think these probably have the original scupper plugs, but don't know for sure.

Has anybody paddled one of these ? Looks really fast but that 25" width makes me nervous stability wise.

I think that's the deal: speed and stability are inversely related.

There is a thread about this design in the Kayaks forum:

Most of it is about Hydrospider's prolonged odyssey trying to get one delivered out to the other side of the Sierras.

Here's what Cate of LFK had to say:
"Good fishing craft.  My fishing buddy enjoyed paddling it.  It is fast, stable, and tracks well.  We flipped them over a bunch in our rescue clinic on Friday.  Only a little bit of water in the one. The other had about  2 cups which isn't bad.  The one center hatch on one leaked a little but only a few drops - not bad for as much as it was upside down.

We got the new scupper plugs which work better and Jeff did a few other modifications to the outfitting.

We were hoping it would be a bit sportier for touring and light rock gardening hence why we are selling them."

If you know Liquid Fusion Kayaking you know what she means - they do some amazing stuff and are always trying out new yaks, looking for performance in the ocean whitewater.

The original Scupper Pro is the same width basically. The kayak is stable for those that are experienced paddlers. The learning curve is slight. The lower center of gravity in the older Scupper craft, and I assume this one, creates more stability.  I don't own the newer one by Swell but I still have a Scupper Pro dual hatch.

How do you like the front hatch?

Only one of these available now - I just bought the white one!

Sweet ride in the river, hoping to get it out in the swells next week.
