Trailer folk, I just bought a used Malone Microsport and it has the sup pads. What are people's experience with either Megawings or 7' bunks.  I'm hoping to keep my Trident 15 on it at times. Would either be okay to store the yak on? I've read through storage posts and articles. As well as Malone posts. There seem to be lots of different opinions.

Thanks and be safe, Wolf

you will have to reconfigure it for your kayak if you are going to use it for storage and travel. This is my trailer for my PA14. It's a 1965 mastercraft aluminum boat trailer I picked up off of CL. Stripped it down and rebuilt it to work with my boat. Hobie cradle, 2" PVC pipes, covered and used a heat gun to bend the backs for a ramp... mainly to cover up metal and protect the kayak. Think if you minus the cradles you should be able to make something like this work for you...

Wow Dan! That looks amazing. Well done. Looking at your rig makes me think the bunks are better for longer term storage. I assume you can leave yours with all that support.

Did you snatch that MicroSport in Dublin off CL yesterday? I was on my way to get it when I got the email it was gone. I hope it went to a NCKA brother, but man I was bummed about it last night!

Thank you! It was a lot of work since it was rusty and not well cared for but well worth it and a fun project. I plan on using it for long term storage once I clean up my garage lol. Another project... not much fun but needs to get done lol

Yes Exhibita, it went to a NCKA brother.  I just got back from picking it up, but gave him the money earlier in the week. The trailers don't seem popular on here, but they go fast when up for sale.  You can borrow it anytime, like for longer trips.

I'm leaning towards the Malone bunks, as they look to give more support.  The OK Trident seems pretty stoutly built, so I will try giving it a go leaving it on the trailer.

just keep an eye on it when the weather gets hotter... if it ever does this year. If it looks fine and doesent look like.its getting dented in then you will be fine. Also mount your bunks or supports on these bars that's in the pic. I forgot what the actual name for them are but you find them in the electrical aisle in home depot. Makes it easy for adjustments or changing stuff around.... just loosen the bolts and slide it one way or the other. feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

I noticed that the trailer arnt popular and dont know why. makes it easy to launch if there is a boat launch and dont have to lift it on top of a car or unload it and move it around when you get home. also gives you more room in the truck bed for camping/family stuff. Maybe people will start catching on lol
